Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was released from a hospital and police custody in Indianapolis on Sunday, a week after he was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds and facing multiple charges. Sanchez, a Fox Sports NFL game analyst, was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds after an October 4 fight. He was later charged with battery with moderate bodily injury. If convicted, he faces between one and six years in prison, Marion County prosecutors said. “I’m just focused on my recovery right now and I want to thank the first responders, Eskenazi Hospital, Marion County Sheriff and Indianapolis Police Department, Metro Police,” Sanchez told FOX59/CBS4 on Sunday. “But I’m just focused on getting better and I just want to see my wife, I want to see my son and my two daughters.” He did not answer questions about the charges against him. “There will be a day where all of these questions will be answered, and unfortunately today is not that day,” he added, “I think the statement here is just I want to thank the surgeon, Dr. I (Lindsey) মসলারকে. He saved my life. I am grateful for that.”
Sanchez was allowed to leave Indiana, but first had to be fingerprinted and have a mugshot taken. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for November 5 in Indianapolis. Prosecutors said the incident stemmed from a dispute over where a man was parked. Sanchez allegedly fought with Perry Toll, 69, a truck driver, outside a hotel. According to court documents, Toll works for Minnesota-based company Restaurant Technologies, which recycles and disposes of commercial cooking oils. According to the affidavit, Sanchez and Toll started fighting over the parking situation before the argument became violent. He told police the former NFL star smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. Toll, who said he was told, claimed Sanchez pepper-sprayed him before stabbing him in the upper torso. He said it was self-defense. Sanchez was initially arrested on several misdemeanor charges, including battery resulting in bodily injury, public intoxication and unlawful entry into a vehicle. The affidavit states Toll had a serious injury to the side of his face. Sanchez, of Fox, was in Indianapolis to broadcast the game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday. Sanchez had a 10-year NFL career before retiring in 2019. He spent four seasons with the New York Jets and also appeared in games with Philadelphia, Dallas and Washington. He joined Fox Sports in 2021 after working at ESPN and ABC for two years. (TagsToTranslate) Mark Sanchez
