Following the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and as part of multiple bloody reprisals and horrific video displays, Hamas conducted public executions of multiple people in Gaza on Monday, hours after signing a peace agreement with Israel. Following the IDF’s withdrawal, Hamas swiftly sought to reassert its control over Gaza, targeting “tribes” or family-based armed groups that had gained power during the conflict. Earlier on Monday, President Trump suggested he was allowing Hamas to run internal security in Gaza “as it sees fit” as part of a peace deal that would call for the return of surviving hostages in Israel.
