The family of Virginia Giuffre, Prince Andrew’s accuser in the sexual abuse case, celebrated the Duke of York’s decision to relinquish royal duties as “a sign of evidence for our sister and survivors everywhere” on Friday, amid the scandal plaguing the royals, and demanded the prince be stripped of his titles. Relatives of Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, said: “This is a victory not just for her, but for those who survived the horrific crimes committed by (Jeffrey) Epstein and his associates.” Andrew announced this week that he was stepping down from appointments after new allegations emerged regarding his connection to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Giuffre, pictured here with Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell in March 2001, was one of Epstein’s most prominent victims. The DOJ also includes Andrew’s brother, King George III, in Giuffre’s family. He said they believed it was “appropriate” for Charles to take the royal prince’s title. “We hope that the days of impunity for those in power will end, and that the protection of predators will no longer be tolerated,” her family said. “We hope that a high standard has been set for our ruling leaders in the United States, which we will work tirelessly to follow here.
