A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Perth District Court after pleading guilty to sexually abusing three young children and sharing child abuse material online. The 24-year-old woman was sentenced this week after admitting guilt earlier this month. She will be eligible for parole after serving eight years. (Sydney Morning Herald)
The Western Australian Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (WA JACET) – a unit comprised of officers from the AFP and the Western Australian Police Force – laid charges against the woman in July 2024 regarding the distribution of child abuse material on social media. She was subsequently identified, and further offences were later charged against her.
Acting AFP Commander Murray Taylor thanked WA JACET investigators for their dedication and determination in identifying and rescuing the three child victims from further harm. Investigators reviewed horrific videos and images of the offences.
Acting Inspector David Palmer of the WA Police Sex Crimes Division said: “This is a reflection of justice for the child abuse victim and an offender brought to justice.”
