The Miami Dolphins lost star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to a leg injury four weeks ago, and now, the team will be without their top tight end for at least the next four games. The Dolphins placed Durham Smythe on injured reserve Wednesday due to a pectoral injury sustained in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns. In a corresponding move, the Dolphins signed Greg Dulcich to the active roster from the practice squad.
The former third-round pick of the Denver Broncos has 41 receptions for 464 yards and two touchdowns in 21 career games. Durham Smythe leads the team with four touchdown catches this season.
Durham Smythe’s injury comes after he missed the first three games of the season with a hip injury.
Miami’s offense has struggled in the last few games. In their 31-17 loss to the Browns, the Dolphins’ offense totaled 219 yards, converted just 1 of 13 third-down attempts, and lost the turnover battle 4-0. Tua Tagovailoa became the first quarterback since Philip Rivers in 2019 to throw three interceptions in two straight games.
Miami’s next opponent is the 3-3 Falcons in Atlanta.
