OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated on Tuesday that ChatGPT will soon allow erotica for adult users. “In a few weeks, we plan to release a new version of ChatGPT that lets people have a personality that behaves more like what people liked in 4o (hopefully it will be even better!),” he said in a post on social platform X on Tuesday. He further explained that if you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human way, or use a ton of emojis, or act like a friend, it should be able to do that. He described the upcoming changes as a “big upgrade” from “vigilant-to-tabley,” as they move toward fully implementing their policy of treating adults as adults. Altman continued, “In the first week, a million people tried it, and we thought that was incredible…but now almost 700 million people use ChatGPT every week, and increasingly rely on it for work, learning, advice, creativity, and much more. Today, we are finally launching GPT-5. GPT-5 is a big upgrade over GPT-4.” According to OpenAI, the new version of ChatGPT will see advancements in fields such as programming, writing, and healthcare. OpenAI also announced a new partnership with the General Services Administration (GSA) in August, allowing ChatGPT to work with federal agencies as part of a new partnership. Altman stated at the time in a statement.
