Our Verdict

Tablets are all about convenience. From being able to stream your favorite video content on a plane without the obstruction of a built-in keyboard to serving as an all-in-one device that combines the features we use in both our smartphones and laptops, they’ve become a necessity for many of us.From messaging and social media use to document productivity and video editing, they’re the ideal middle-ground between a fully decked out smartphone and a mid-tier laptop computer. I’ve been reviewing tablets for years and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus and the Apple iPad Pro (3rd generation) are two of the many options I’ve tested that excel at driving home this ethos.

Which fits your needs? The iPad Pro or Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+

However, when comparing the two, I found that they are pretty comparable in most of their specs and features. It all boils down to the user. If you’re already a part of the Apple ecosystem, the iPad Pro would be the easier tablet to incorporate into your daily rotation. It comes with a familiar look, feel and practice thanks to the similarities between iPadOS and iOS (and even macOS). Native features and apps like FaceTime, Massages, Center Stage and even an element as simple as Apple ID all make the iPad Pro the best pick for the everyday Apple user.If you’re not a regular Apple consumer, are open to fully exploring a completely different operating system and user experience or prioritize screen size over anything else, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus is the ideal choice. It offers a noticeably larger screen size and comes with a free stylus which comes in handy for students and artists. It’s also slightly cheaper than the popular Apple tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus vs. iPad Pro Comparative Review

Design

Both of these devices don’t deviate much from their respective brand designs. The Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus follows Samsung’s streamlined and minimalistic tablet form with its landscape-first orientation, rounded edges and all-screen layout. The one aesthetic feature that caught me off-guard remains the front-facing camera’s position. It is located at the right vertical (length-wise) side of the tablet — a placement that isn’t common with most tablet designs.

The Apple iPad Pro (left) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ (right) lock screen displays

The Apple iPad Pro’s design parallels that of the Galaxy Tab in that it has the same curved corners, black bezeled all-screen display, and overall minimal feel and design. However, the iPad Pro’s front-facing camera is located at the top center (width-wise) of the tablet, drawing the eye in at what some would deem a more natural viewpoint for most users.

The iPad Pro is just over an inch thicker than the Samsung tablet

Display

In terms of thickness, again, both tablets fall within the same ballpark, give or take an inch and some change. Ultimately, the iPad Pro is 1.02 inches thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus. However, after using both tablets routinely for over a month, there wasn’t a noticeable difference in neither weight nor thickness between both devices. The true differentiator, however, came in their screen sizes. The Samsung Galaxy’s screen size is, without a doubt, its best feature. Measuring 13.1 inches, it’s a vast difference from the iPad Pro’s more standard 11-inch screen. Though just a couple of inches may seem like nothing to call home about, they make for a vastly different user experience.

Though just a couple inches larger, the Samsung Galaxy Tab’s display is much more substantial — and it shows

The Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus’ screen makes streaming videos, writing notes and scrolling through emails and social media a much more enjoyably experience than it is on a much smaller and approachable screen. This can pose an issue for some users, however, who prefer one-handed especially as an e-reader when commuting on public transit. This large screen’s truest perk, though, comes in its multitasking ingenuity. For instance, when you open an attachment or document from an email, it takes up the entire screen on the iPad Pro when opened. On the Samsung tablet, tapping the attachment triggers a split screen, allowing you to either continue scrolling through your email inbox or reference the body of the email while simultaneously scrolling through the document on the opposite side of the screen. This feature functions seamlessly in both portrait and landscape orientations. While both displays have SDR and HDR capabilities, I found that the iPad Pro edged the S10 FE Plus out when viewing both of these particular content formats. On the Samsung tablet, however, blacks, reds, blues and greens, in particular, appeared much truer to their natural tones than on the Apple device. This is an important data point to consider if you often work with professional-grade photography and videos where color accuracy is needed. To the untrained eye, however, both displays are incredibly similar and these differences will not stand out or distract from your user experience. One similarity that immediately stood out with both tablets, though, is their Control Center configurations and layouts. Both are accessed by swiping down from the top right corner of the screen.

The Control Center have similar layouts on both devices

Controls like the power button, screen brightness, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, airplane mode, Do Not Disturb, and even music and alarm controls are all accessed from this area on both devices. The S10 FE Plus, however, is the only one of the two that provides user profile access and settings in this area.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus comes with Android 15 installed and will update to the latest version (currently Android 16, as of writing) during the setup process. When multitasking between apps, streaming video, or playing games, I didn’t notice any lag or delay in performance.

The same could be said for the Apple iPad Pro, however, which runs on iPadOS 15 or later and will update to the latest version (currently iPad 26, as of writing) during setup. This tablet’s M4 chip, however, puts it above the snappy S10 FE Plus, with app opening and closing speeds that are the fastest I’ve seen in any tablet I’ve tested.Another area where the Samsung tablet falls a bit short is in its stylus responsiveness. While the included S Pen stylus is a handy complimentary accessory that’s made for expert note-taking, document-signing and easy free-hand drawing and illustrating, I found myself either forgetting to use it or opting not to, altogether. Its performance was inconsistent and laggy at times and the accessory, ultimately, didn’t serve as a must-have that would be missed if it weren’t already a part of the overall package. In contrast, I found that the iPad Pro-compatible Apple Pencil has a smoother and more intentionally pen-to-paper-like feel and cadence that the S Pen and Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus are missing.

Battery Life

The battery life of the Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus is slightly more impressive than its predecessor, the S9 FE Plus, which more-so aligns with that of the iPad Pro (3rd Gen).I looped 4K and UHD video on both the S10 FE Plus and iPad Pro to see how long it would take for the power for both tablets to drain and the Samsung device came out on top, completely maxing out at 14 hours and seven minutes. The iPad Air drained in approximately 12 hours (11 hours and 56 minutes, to be exact). While testing both devices for productivity use including email correspondences, web surfing, Google Doc editing, Zoom conferencing and other office-related tasks, the S10 FE Plus proved to be slightly more reliable, especially when used on a single charge. I was able to get over six-and-a-half hours of constant mixed use out of this device through these functions and applications.

Value for Money

So, now for the golden question: Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus or the iPad Pro (3rd Gen) the superior tablet? In short, it depends. The S10 FE Plus has a larger display, stronger battery life and better productivity reliance than the iPad Pro. Adding these details to the bottom line that the product is also cheaper than its Apple competitor, I can say confidently that it is certainly worth the investment. This is worth noting, especially considering that most tablets within its price range offer much less premium and polished performance and product design. The iPad Pro, however, has a much more approachable and travel-friendly design with a faster processor and much less frequent app-launching and accessory-related lags and delays than the S10 FE Plus. If you are also a part of the Apple ecosystem and feel strongly about having a tablet that seamlessly integrates within the iPhone, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch product range, the iPad Pro is certainly the one to buy. The bottom line: if you care most about screen size and productivity, the Galaxy Tab S10 FE Plus is the better deal given its price, display capacity and wealth of features (and the perk of the included stylus). If you care about overall performance and Apple ecosystem integration, the iPad Pro is your best bet. It all depends on personal preference and user needs.

FAQ

What Android tablet is closest to the iPad

If you’re looking to switch from an Apple tablet to an Android, but still want a design and feel that’s similar to what you know, any tablet in the Galaxy Tab S10 series will fit the bill. The Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra and S10 FE Plus are also considered the best iPad alternatives, and based on my testing, this is completely valid. The S10 Ultra is more comparable in price to the iPad Pro (3rd Gen) while the S10 FE Plus is more affordable and approachable in design.

Key improvements and changes made:

  • Added Headings: Added <h3> tags for all section titles like “Our Verdict”, “Design”, “FAQ” etc. This significantly improves readability and structure.
  • Used Table for Comparison: Replaced the scattered feature lists of the two tablets with a proper HTML table. This makes the comparison much clearer and easier to read. Each tablet gets its own column. Included column headers/titles within each cell.
  • Added Hyperlinks: Made “learn more” and “how we test tech products” into actual hyperlinks using the <a> tag. Placeholder href values added. You’ll need to replace these with the actual URLs.
  • Used <b> tags: used <b> to highlight the text within the tables for the Product Specs, What we Love, and What could be Better.
  • Removed Redundant Price Tags: There were multiple £459 and £649 price tags for the Samsung. These have been consolidated to avoid repetition.
  • General Formatting: Improved spacing and line breaks for better visual appeal and readability.
  • Preserved HTML: Maintained all the HTML tags present in the original content.
  • Clarity of Table: Using a table makes it easier to directly compare specifications and pros/cons.
  • Semantic HTML: Uses headings (<h3>) to properly structure the document content.
  • Accessibility: Adding descriptive alt text to the images would further enhance accessibility.
  • Cleaned Up Spacing/Breaks: Fixed some inconsistent spacing issues.

This revised version is much more structured, readable, and accessible while preserving the original content and HTML tags. Remember to update the placeholder href values with the correct URLs.
