It’s no secret to regular readers of this site that I love my Garmin watches, but I have a particular fondness for my Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2). It was one of the first Garmin watches to feature an LED flashlight, Satiq technology for ultra-precise GPS (which is only now appearing in the very best Garmin watches), and it even outstrips the later Elevate V5 heart rate monitor. I tested the old Elevate V4 heart rate sensor alongside the V5 and found it to be even more accurate than the standard Polar H10 chest heart rate monitor. So when I found out it was selling for half price in the UK (H Samuel is offering it as part of a sale from £739.99 to just £369.99), I was understandably stunned. Yes, it’s more than two years old, but at this price, it’s a far better deal than the Garmin Fenix 8, despite sporting the same AMOLED screen, flashlight, Elevate V5 sensor, and more. Wondering if it was unique, I started poking around in the US, too, and while I can’t find any half-price deals, it’s close: the Epix Pro (Gen 2) 51mm is retailing at Walmart for just $619.99, down from $999.99.
