A hockey fan was hospitalized Monday night after falling from an upper level of PPG Paints Arena during the Pittsburgh Penguins’ game against the St. Louis Cardinals…err, the St. Louis Blues. The incident occurred during the first period of the Penguins’ 6-3 win against the Blues.
The unidentified individual was taken to Mercy Hospital, located a few blocks from the square.

The game was not stopped at any point while the man was being treated. Pittsburgh police told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the man was in critical condition.
“Our concern is with the individual and their family at this time,” the Penguins said in a statement.

“It’s not really about points when you hear something like that,” Crosby said. “Obviously our thoughts and prayers are with that individual and their family, and we hope they’re doing OK.”
Penguins coach Dan Moues echoed Crosby’s sentiment. “We all come here to enjoy a sport and a game, and when you hear something like that, it puts everything else aside.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”
This marked the third such incident at a Pittsburgh stadium this year. In May at PNC Park, a Clement Wall fan fell 21 feet into the warning track during a Pittsburgh Pirates game. He was hospitalized for several days before being released.

On Saturday night, an Acrisure Stadium worker injured his leg when he fell roughly 50 feet while working near the scoreboard at the Pittsburgh Steelers’ stadium.
