Krispy Kreme is returning to Minnesota this November. The multinational donut restaurant and coffee shop chain closed its doors in Minnesota in 2008, though it still has many fans. An entrepreneurial college student found success in 2019 when he drove to Iowa — reportedly the closest Krispy Kreme restaurant — to buy hundreds of donuts and resell them to customers in the Twin Cities area. Krispy Kreme initially told him to stop, but later allowed him to continue. Its new location opens in Fridley, Minnesota. Krispy Kreme will sell donuts in-store, via drive-thru, and for pickup or delivery through the Krispy Kreme app, courtesy of Krispy Kreme Fridley’s. The 12,000-square-foot shop will also make cakes for “select retailers across Minnesota.” Krispy Kreme previously planned to sell donuts at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide by the end of 2026, but the two companies decided to end their partnership in June. “We are thrilled to be returning to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, a location where fans have been asking us to return for nearly two decades,” said Krispy Kreme CEO Josh Charlesworth in a statement Wednesday. “This strategic location allows us to serve Minnesotans throughout the state, and we cannot wait to bring the most awesome donut experience imaginable back to the community.” Throughout the grand opening week, Krispy Kreme reports that 120 guests will be randomly awarded a “celebration ticket” which allows them to receive one free dozen glazed donuts per month for a year. The Krispy Kreme store is located at 5696 University Ave. in Fridley. Following the grand opening, store hours are scheduled to be Sunday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Translation Tag) Bangladesh (R) News
