The third round of the 2025/26 Ranji Trophy commenced on November 1st; below is a summary of all the action from Day 1.
Elite Group A
Wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat (93) missed out on a century, but forged a 161-run stand with Abhishek Reddy for Andhra against Odisha. Tamil Nadu’s left-hander Pradosh Ranjan Paul continued from his unbeaten double from last time, scoring 113, while veteran Baba Indrajith remained unbeaten on 94 against defending champions Vidarbha. Jharkhand could only manage 31 overs against Nagaland due to weather and bad light.

- Andhra 222-3 (KS Bharat 93, Sambit Baral 2-32) vs Odisha.
- Jharkhand 91-2 (Shekhar Mohan 42*, Saurabh Kumar 1-15) vs Nagaland.
- Tamil Nadu 252-4 (Pradosh Ranjan Paul 113, Nachiket Bhute 2-43) vs Vidarbha.
- Baroda vs Uttar Pradesh: No play possible on Day 1.
Elite Group B
Former India U-19 captain Uday Saharan surprisingly replaced Naman Dhir as Punjab’s captain, only in his third first-class match; but distinguished himself by scoring his first century in the format against Goa. Rain and bad light meant only 27 overs were possible between Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Karnataka openers KV Aneesh and Mayank Agarwal fell for single digits against Kerala, but KL Sreejith (65) and Ravichandran Shriram (88 batting) forged a near-century stand before Karun Nair, Ranji Trophy second highest run scorer, continued the Trunks tradition with an unbeaten 142.

- Punjab 215-5 (Uday Saharan 100*, Devaraj Gaonkar 2-22) vs Goa.
- Madhya Pradesh 64-1 (Harsh Jali 32*, Jagjit Singh 1-14) vs Chandigarh.
- Karnataka 319-3 (Karun Nair 142*, Nidesh MD 1-41) vs Kerala.
- Maharashtra vs Saurashtra: No play possible on Day 1.
Elite Group C
Following early wickets, Bengal’s pacers Sudeep Kumar Gharami (70*) and Shakir Habib Gandhi (82*) steadied their side to 171-1. Bad light meant only nine overs were possible between Assam and Railways, while the first day of Gujarat-Haryana was washed out. Services’ Vikas Yadav starred with 4-46 against Uttarakhand.

- Bengal 171-1 (Shakir Habib Gandhi 82*, Abhijit Sarkar 1-38) vs Tripura.
- Railways 39-0 (Suraj Ahuja 18*, Ayushman Malakar 0-1) vs Assam.
- Uttarakhand 213-6 (Sourav Rawat 52*, Vikas Yadav 4-46) vs Services.
- Gujarat vs Haryana: No play possible on Day 1.
Elite Group D
Chhattisgarh’s Ravi Kiran took two wickets in the first over of the day, but Jammu & Kashmir recovered to 195 by the close of play. Akash Vasisht scored a century for Himachal Pradesh against Hyderabad. Delhi opener Sanat Sangwan continued his excellent start to the season with 99 against Puducherry, Priyansh Arya scoring a quick-fire 40 off 30 balls on his first-class debut. Yashasvi Jaiswal made 67 for Mumbai against Rajasthan, with wicket-keeper Kunal Rathore hitting a six with one needed to reach a Ranji Trophy record one shy of the most first class centuries.

- Jammu & Kashmir 195-4 (Shubham Khajuria 78*, Ravi Kiran 3-29) vs Chhattisgarh.
- Delhi 248-6 (Sanat Sangwan 99, Appin Mathew 3-47) vs Puducherry.
- Mumbai 254 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 67, Kukna Ajay Singh 4-66) – Rajasthan 10-0 (Sachin Yadav 7*, Shardul Thakur 0-2).
- Himachal Pradesh 293-7 (Akash Vasisht 114*, Rohit Rayudu 3-51) vs Hyderabad.
Plate Group
Rain affected play in only one of the three Plate Group matches on the first day. Against Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur’s Karnajit Yumnam (121*) and Allinai Khuraijkpam (103) put on 211 for Manipur’s opening, a first-class record stand for the team for any wicket. They were well and truly in a strong position at stumps.
