Shohei Ohtani MLB ইতিহাসের সেরা প্লে-অফ পারফরম্যান্স প্রদান করে কারণ ডজার্স বনাম ব্রুয়ার্সের সাথে লড়াই করে

What follows is not hyperbole. It’s the truth. Shohei Ohtani just played arguably the best playoff game in Major League Baseball history. I hope I get to witness it – the Dodgers’ pennant-clinching NLCS Game 4 as they sweep the Brewers – either in person or live on a monitor somewhere. If not, just stand aside and soak in the storyline. Ohtani reached base all four times at the plate. That indicates he made zero outs. He walked once. He homered with three RBIs. Ohtani also pitched. He threw six scoreless innings and allowed only two hits while striking out 10. Despite remaining pretty quiet the first three games of the series, Ohtani was named NLCS MVP after Game 4. Again, we should all be thrilled. We’ve known for years that we haven’t seen anything like Ohtani. I remember back in 2023 talking to CC Sabathia and hearing him make the case for why Ohtani was the greatest player ever. I used to look at old stats suggesting Babe Ruth’s pitching and stellar hitting times didn’t overlap all that much. That was three years ago. Ohtani has since won two MVPs and is set to add another this year. He won the World Series in 2025 and just won another, his best, in the past two weeks. It’s just ridiculous. Bill James once wrote that Ricky Henderson was so good that you could cut him in half and get two Hall of Famers. You don’t need to divide Ohtani. He’s obviously a Hall of Fame-level offensive player. When he’s able to remain healthy enough to pitch, he’s also taking a run toward the Hall of Fame there, too. Game 4 of the NLCS is showcasing it all. Just walk through it chronologically. Ohtani issues a leadoff walk, but then retires the next three batters in the first inning. He got the first farm to come in with the barn. At the top of the second, he led the Brewers offense into two throws and a popout. Drew a walk in the bottom of the second. At the top of the third, he walks a batter, a hitter and then a double play. He gives up a leadoff double at the top of the fourth, but then grounded into two runs. He homered in the bottom of the fourth. It went 469 feet. At the top of the fifth, he takes a fly and two outs on the mound. In the top of the sixth, he takes a fly and two hitters. Again. They hit another home run in the bottom of the seventh. You can’t find anyone in the history of time that you could compare him to. It’s impossible. The following players have three games in their careers: Babe Ruth (twice), Bob Robertson, Reggie Jackson, George Brett, Adam Kennedy, Adrian Beltre, Albert Pujols, Pablo Sandoval, Jose Altuve, Kike Hernandez, and Chris Taylor. None of them have pitched. No, Ruth wasn’t drunk either. None of them. Not only did Ohtani pitch, dominating with six scoreless innings in a pennant-clinching win, but he also dominated in the regular season with the most wins on the team. And if you’re curious, the only pitcher in history to have three home runs in the regular season was Jim Tobin in 1942 for the Braves. And he went 3 for 4 with three home runs and four RBIs. He threw a complete game. Though he allowed five runs (three earned). Do you know what the stakes are either? Teams join up with the best teams in the league, as opposed to the regular season. Do you see where I’m going? Shohei Ohtani just played arguably the greatest baseball game anyone has ever played.
