প্রস্তুতিমূলক আলোচনা: ম্যাগি কেরিন দেখায় কিভাবে ক্লাব অভিজ্ঞতার মাধ্যমে একটি ক্রীড়া বৃত্তি পেতে হয়
It’s quite a paradox that senior Maggie Carin attends Louisville High in Woodland Hills and will soon be attending the University of Louisville in Kentucky on a full scholarship. Let’s set aside the two Louisvilles for a moment. Did you know she’s receiving a scholarship based on her field hockey prowess? And the high school she attends doesn’t even have a field hockey team. She earned this offer thanks to playing club field hockey.
At Louisville High, she’s perfectly content playing volleyball and soccer, while outsiders have no idea she’s one of the top field hockey players in Southern California. Her father, Jeff Carin, is a former Loyola High and Cal State Northridge football coach who has coached Crespi’s JV football team and taken them to competitions for years. He sought advice from others regarding whether Maggie should attend a high school that offered field hockey, and they told him that being good at multiple sports would help her versatility in field hockey. Maggie has been playing the game since she was 5 years old. “She came home one night and said, ‘I want to play with a stick.’ I thought it was lacrosse,” her father said. Now there’s a way to cover her college education. “There are no happier parents,” said her father.
