বিশাল প্রসপার ডেটা লঙ্ঘনের দাবি 17 মিলিয়নেরও বেশি শিকার – আমরা এখন পর্যন্ত যা জানি তা এখানে

P2P lending platform Prosper has suffered a data breach, reportedly affecting 17.6 million individuals. The compromised data includes Social Security Numbers (SSNs), addresses, and income levels. The peer-to-peer lending service Prosper is reported to have had the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of over 17.6 million people compromised by hackers following a major cyberattack. The data breach was discovered in September 2025, when Prosper confirmed it had detected unauthorized activity on its systems. This resulted in the exposure of personal data, including but not limited to social security numbers, IP addresses, physical addresses, government-issued identification, income levels, and email addresses. As with all unauthorized access, victims of this incident are at risk of identity theft, as criminals could use their personal information to obtain loans or credit cards in their name. However, with information like identity, address, employment status, and income levels compromised, they are also incredibly susceptible to sophisticated social engineering attacks, scams, or even physical theft. TechRadar Pro has reached out to Prosper to confirm the veracity of the 17.6 million figure, but we haven’t heard back yet. This figure, while certainly significant, is still nowhere near the top of the table – several recent incidents have been reported to affect over a billion records. The company has confirmed that it will be offering free credit monitoring on a “needs basis” once it determines what data was impacted and that it is monitoring accounts using security measures to protect customer funds. The company has assured customers that their financial accounts were not accessed and that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation of the incident. “There is no evidence of unauthorized access to customer accounts or funds, and transactions with our customers continue uninterrupted. We continuously monitor accounts and have robust security measures in place to protect customer funds,” the company confirmed on a dedicated FAQ page. “While these attacks are becoming common across many industries, we have many measures and technologies in place to prevent such occurrences. We are improving our systems’ monitoring and have implemented enhanced security measures to reduce the likelihood of this happening again in the future.” Follow TechRadar on Google News and add us as your favorite source to get the news, reviews, and opinions from our experts in your feed.
