The Royal Family has reportedly thrown disgraced Prince Andrew “under the bus” after stripping him of his titles this week, potentially opening him up to police investigation, according to his biographer on Friday. Royal historian and author Andrew Lownie claims the bombshell move to formally remove Andrew’s titles and evict him from his home shows the Royal Family has essentially washed their hands of any controversy linked to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
“I’ve been saying for some time now that they would throw Andrew under the bus to save themselves and this is the first indication of it,” Lownie told the Mirror.
“The palace realized there was a major problem,” Andrew’s biographer told WireImage. The Florida Southern District Court added the move may open the door to a police investigation and only further cement Andrew’s fall from grace.
Regarding the Royal Family’s decision to distance themselves from Andrew, Lownie said: “I don’t think this is the end of it. I think there will be more announcements to come, but at least they are taking decisive action.” “So I don’t think it is the end for him.”
Lownie said the Royal Family was likely forced to make a decision about Andrew after Epstein’s most prominent accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, made disturbing allegations against the former royal in her posthumous memoir.
“It should have been done years ago,” Lownie said. “I think it was Virginia Giuffre’s book that made the palace realize there was a major problem.”

Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, has long claimed she was forced to have sex with Andrew. She detailed the alleged horrific encounters in her memoir; including one instance where Andrew allegedly kissed her feet in a disturbing manner and then molested her. Andrew has repeatedly denied the allegations.
