The Minnesota Vikings have condemned the racist remarks directed at cornerback Isaiah Rodgers. Following the Vikings’ 28-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Rodgers posted screenshots to social media of several messages he received. The messages contained racial slurs and insults. Rodgers, who is Black, said in a post on X that the messages were among the most racist he has received since entering the NFL – but he also stated, “It’s not the worst I’ve seen.”
In a statement posted on X, the Vikings said the team was “disgusted” by the insults directed at Rodgers. “We stand with Isaiah and all players who, unfortunately, too often experience such ignorant and prejudiced behavior and we ask our fans to continue to fight to eradicate racism,” the Vikings statement said.
Rodgers is in his first season with the Vikings after playing with the Eagles last year.
